PROGRESS REVIEW

The progress review went well and I was able to directly convey how my project would be set out and what i had achieved so far. Over the Holidays I should begin to model my assets so that when I return I can texture and rig my Rhinoceros.

3rd Rhinoceros Mood board. This time of the Black Rhino which looks like your average Rhinoceros. With two horns this is my favourite Rhino and i'm edging towards modelling this one.

2nd Rhinoceros mood board, this time focused on the Indian Rhino which looks a lot more armoured and may be harder to model, texture and rig because of its shape.

MEETING WITH ERIKA #3

In this meeting we discussed the second part of my assessment which will be a progress review scheduled for Friday 29th November. In this i need to show examples of my work at present and clear up any questions my peers or tutor may have.

MODELLING

Alongside researching climates, environments and animals i'm also modelling simple creatures such as this deer to understand how I'll model my final character.

ELEPHANT SKELETON

When modelling any creature it's important to get the anatomy right so here is the skeletal form of an Indian Elephant. Hopefully building up my reference material like this will help me choose an animal and in turn enable me to 3D model it as accurately as possible.

BIOME DISTRIBUTION

Having narrowed it down to three areas of interest, Arctic, Rainforest and Savanna, it was time to research the locations of each of these regions so that i could understand more about the animals that reside in these biomes. Below i have created a document that displays this in terms of a world map.

ARCTIC MOODBOARD

Final Moodboard of an arctic biome. Common themes that run within these habitats include glaciers, masses of water and icy tundra. 

SAVANNA MOODBOARD

Moodboard of a savanna biome such as the African plains. Typical foliage native to here is savanna grass and the baobab tree pictured top right. 

RAINFOREST MOODBOARD

Moodboard of an array of the most famous habitats and biomes starting with the rainforest. Areas such as the Amazon are home to many tall canopies, waterfalls, and foliage and these are just a few of them.

WESTERN RHINO EXTINCT

WESTERN RHINO EXTINCT!

Today the Black Western Rhino was declared extinct in the wild which is a huge shame. A huge coincidence given my final year studies on animal behaviour and movement, this could be an animal that would benefit from an analysis as future generations to come will not know much about this creature. Much like myself with the Dodo.

FIRST MEET WITH ERIKA

In this weeks tutor progress meeting Erika stressed that we should attempt to construct our project proposal which would outline the basis of out final year project. My main idea is to create informative videos about wildlife that zoos, wildlife parks, or nature reserves can use. These videos will highlight issues such as illegal poaching and conservation.
